Bettering Beginning Behaviors

Building Canine Confidence
This is a class of up to 6 dogs who are fearful of unfamiliar humans in a variety of settings. Dogs should already have some basic attention skills and have completed introductory work around strangers.
Class exercises are designed to teach handlers how to best manage, followed by an emphasis on how to best reduce, their dogs’ anxieties. Dog/handler teams will work on decreasing the distance between and increasing the interactions between the dogs and unfamiliar humans.

Off Leash Obedience

Growl II
Growl II is a class of up to 6 dogs/handlers who have already worked on basic dog-dog coping skills and are ready to work at the next level of reducing the dogs’ reactive/aggressive behaviors in the presence of other dogs.

Home Alone
This class (8 dogs maximum) allows students to work on skills to help dogs who have issues when left alone Home alone.
This class will introduce and work on the mechanics for helping the dog who is overly stressed by your absence. Mildly stressed dogs to dogs displaying full blown separation anxiety are encouraged to attend.

Rover Meets Junior
Are you adding a baby to a busy household that already includes your beloved dog or cat? Before the happy day arrives, learn about the common and sometimes hidden traps and pitfalls encountered by expanding families.
This 4 week arrival of new baby prep class will discuss how a family and their pet can prepare for the smooth arrival of a new baby and how to identify and address issues which arise after the baby’s arrival. Janice will cover safe practices for identifying problem behaviors, minimizing the likelihood of development of such behaviors and what to do when they occur.
